Vancouver Island
ROOSEVELT ELK:
Vancouver Island is well-known as the premier destination for trophy Roosevelt Elk. It consistently produces Boone & Crockett bulls and is arguably the only location in North America with a pure gene pool of Roosevelt Elk. The Roosevelt Elk hunt runs from October 10 through November 20 and is a 10 day 1x1 hunt. These hunts are both a mental and a physical challenge due to the dense forest habitat in which the Elk live.
The patient and persistent hunter will have the best chance for success. The outfitter has a special bow-only section of the guide area reserved for archery hunters.
Roosevelt Elk are beautiful, large-bodied animals with crown-type antler structures similar to that of the European Red Stag. We have a very limited number of trophy Roosevelt Elk tags so please call for details on these special permits.
BLACK BEAR:
This outfitter offers both spring and fall hunts on Vancouver Island, B.C. This concession is 3,000 square miles and has over 50 grizzly-free salmon river valleys. An abundant food supply, a temperate rain forest climate with a long growing season, no grizzly predation, and superior genetics all contribute to the remarkable size of these bears.
Generally, all of the bears taken on this hunt make the SCI record book. The average square is between 6 1/2' and 7 1/2' with 19" to 21" skulls. Simply put, there are no other locations in North America that have a higher Black Bear population or greater consistency in size and age of bears harvested.
This outfitter uses both custom-designed ocean boats and 4-wheel ATVs as the main means of transportation during the black bear hunts. Camp accommodations consist of beach cottages and heated tent cabins with full shower facilities strategically situated throughout the guide area. With this combination of equipment and camps they are not only able to maximize our clients' hunting opportunities, but are also able to provide a true wilderness experience.
Wolves can be added to the Black Bear hunts on a trophy fee basis. It's not uncommon to see wolves on the shoreline hunting, so be prepared to shoot a wolf if you see one.
